Michael Ring, M.D.
REDCap System Administrator
M.D., University of Maryland
B.S.E., Princeton University
Dr. Ring bridges the gap between the needs of research teams and technical resources. He ensures that NIH users are using REDCap effectively from design to production. In this role, he manages the system administration for both CRISPI and BTRIS instances of REDCap. Dr. Ring is also the IC Data Extractor Lead for BTRIS. This dual position enables him to assist users not only in REDCap operations, but in obtaining research data for use with REDCap.
Dr. Ring has been involved in technical support of medical research for over four decades. He was instrumental in starting the REDCap programs at both BTRIS and NIDDK. Besides CRISPI/BTRIS and NIDDK within NIH, he has been involved in tasks for the Naval Medical Research Center, Walter Reed Army Medical Center and NASA. His experience covers a wide variety of technical areas: database programming, specifications for research systems, the management of a solid organ transplant system, image processing, mice colony management software, satellite support software and, not to be excluded, general helpdesk support.
Dr. Ring received a B.S.E. from Princeton University with a concentration in bioengineering and an M.D. from the University of Maryland.
