Dr. Risa Isonaka joined the Office of Intramural Research (OIR) in 2024 to serve as the Assistant Director of Faculty Development. Her role is to enhance the professional and career development of the research and clinical faculty within the NIH Intramural Research Program. Key responsibilities include developing, implementing, and evaluating various programs and projects aimed at supporting the faculty's growth and advancement.
With a background in neurophysiology, Risa brings experience from her time as an Assistant Professor at Kitasato University School of Medicine in Japan and her Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Postdoctoral Fellowship at the NINDS. She received a B.S. in Medical Laboratory Sciences, and her M.S. and Ph.D. in Neurophysiology from Kitasato University.
