What is REDCap?

A flexible platform for building secure research databases and surveys.
REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture) is a secure, web-based application used to create and manage research databases and online surveys. Designed for clinical and translational research, it provides investigators with tools to collect, organize, and export research data while supporting regulatory, privacy, and security requirements. REDCap is widely adopted by academic medical centers, healthcare organizations, and research institutions around the world.

What is CRISPI REDCap?

A centrally managed REDCap service for the NIH Intramural Research Program.
CRISPI REDCap provides NIH investigators with an enterprise REDCap environment for developing and managing research projects. Rather than having individual laboratories or Institutes and Centers (ICs) deploy and maintain separate REDCap instances, CRISPI offers a shared platform that is professionally managed, consistently maintained, and designed to meet the needs of the NIH research community.

This enterprise approach reduces duplicated effort, encourages consistent data collection practices, and provides a dependable foundation for clinical studies across the NIH.

21 CFR Part 11 is an FDA regulation that establishes requirements for the use of electronic records and electronic signatures in certain regulated activities. CRISPI REDCap is expanding its capabilities to support applicable Part 11 research workflows, with enhancements including electronic signatures, audit trails, and additional system controls designed to support the integrity and reliability of electronic records.
