Multiplex Immunofluorescence Scientific Interest Group (MxIF-SIG)
The multiplex immunofluorescence scientific interest group provides a unique platform for NIH and extramural researchers utilizing multiplex immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence technologies for the study of complex tissue structures (such as tumor microenvironment) to share knowledge. The focus of this group is to disseminate multiplexing culture and foster new research collaborations across the NIH campus. MxIF-SIG welcomes pathologists, clinicians, postdocs, computer scientists, bioinformaticians, that have interest or are working in this area to help move this field forward. Despite the presence of multiple staining technologies, the approach is similar and requires critical thinking and bioinformatic tools for effective segmentation, algorithm building, and advanced spatial analysis. The group will meet monthly to discuss topics that include but are not limited to technical difficulties with staining, optimization, and validation. MxIF-SIG will host a seminar series featuring well experienced NIH and outside speakers (times will be distributed later). The long-term premise of this new community is to generate innovative approaches in the field of digital pathology through artificial intelligence tools.
