Statement About Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) from PIs as Part of BSC/Site Visit Reviews

On August 2021, following the recommendations of a working group of SDs, the Scientific Directors agreed that we would require each PI being reviewed by their BSCs to make a statement about their commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility as part of the NIH IRP. The committee assembled a consensus model document which was reviewed by OGC, OEDI, OSWD, and OHR. The SDs agreed either to use this document or a modified form; if modified, it should be reviewed by OGC to be sure the language is appropriate. Since the document is itself informative about various ways in which PIs can contribute to DEIA at the NIH, it is recommended that it be provided as soon as possible to PIs to help them focus on this important intramural goal.
